Archer’s Three Month Update

April 30, 2019

Three months in and I’m kind of feeling like I’ve got a hang on this mom of two thing! Archer makes it pretty easy though, I can’t lie. It’s actually perfect because Theo is at a tricky age so it’s nice that Archer is so easy currently. It’s crazy to think how much he has already changed since he was born. He’s just such a different baby now and I swear he is changing every single day.

What’s New

Archer has really grown up a lot this past month. He’s found his hands and is chewing on them constantly. He’s also started grabbing at toys now and you can see the pride on his little face when he gets a hold of something and he doesn’t want to let go. Archer has started rolling from belly to back, which is cute to watch. His face looks so surprised every time like he’s trying to figure out what happened.

The drooling has begun. Archer munches on his hands nonstop and I need to get better about putting bibs on him because he keeps getting the collars of his shirts soaked. I don’t think he is actually teething yet because Theo got drooly around this age but didn’t actually get teeth until 6 months, so we will see if Archie is the same.

Archer has found his voice and loves to use it. His little noises that he makes are my favorite. The other night I woke up at 3a to him just kicking his legs and chatting away to himself!

Theo loves his baby brother

Archer is 14.5 pounds and 24 inches so he is still on the bigger end of the percentiles and he is definitely bigger than Theo was at this age. He is still in 3-6 month clothing, although I think we’ve got maybe one more month before I’m going to need to move him to 6-9 month sizes. The chunk is real on this kid and he’s got the most precious rolls.

That thick precious head of auburn hair is falling out at an alarming rate. I think he might have even less hair than Theo did at this point. I’m interested to see what color it will be when it starts coming back in, but for now he is rocking an auburn cul de sac with a little bit of light brown fluff on top.

Bye bye gorgeous hair

This month we celebrated Archer’s first Easter. I always love first holidays, there’s something so special about them. Obviously he wasn’t old enough to understand any of it but we got him a little Easter basket with some teethers and rattles and things.

Wasn’t that impressed with the Easter Bunny
He is honestly too cute for words

Likes/Dislikes

Archer still loves being worn in the wrap and still doesn’t love being stuck in the car. He is at a cute age where he loves being engaged so as long as someone is chatting to him or making faces at him he’s happy. I’ve noticed he also really loves being sung to. Archer truly is such a happy little baby and is always smiling.

Archer still loves tummy time and happily chills on his belly for a good 10 minutes at a time before he gets fussy.

I took Archie to the pool for the first time this past month and he loved it. I’ve started bringing him in the bath with me sometimes and he just floats on his back and splashes and kicks his arms. It’s a lot of fun watching him.

Naked time is still his favorite time. Archer loves diaper changes and better yet, having no diaper on at all.

Sleep

This kid still naps like a dream and I’m very happy about that. He takes 3-4 naps a day ranging from 1-2 hours. I don’t nurse him to sleep or rock him or anything, I just lay him down and he is within a few minutes.

Nights have been pretty good. He usually wakes up around 3a and then again at 6:45, but sometimes he will wake up more. Regardless, he just wakes to eat and then goes back down quickly which is nice.

Eating

Archer is still doing great with nursing. He also happily takes a few bottles a week when I’m either working or out doing things. As long as he’s getting food he’s happy.

Tentative 3 Month Old Schedule

I’ve never been super strict on schedules and routines and I prefer my babies to be more go with the flow. That being said, here is an example of what Archer’s normal day looks like.

  • 6:45a wake up and play
  • 7:30a nurse
  • 8:00a morning nap
  • 10:00a wake up, nurse, and play
  • 12:00p nap
  • 1:00p wake up, nurse, play
  • 3:00p nap
  • 5:00p wake up, nurse, play
  • 6:00p sometimes he will have a little nap here, depending on how much sleep he got that day
  • 7:30p nurse, get ready for bed
  • 8:15p bedtime
  • 3:00a wake up and nurse
  • 5:00a wake up and nurse

3 Months Postpartum

I have started getting back into the swing of things with working out this past month. Home workouts are what I do the most of just because it’s what’s the easiest right now. I like going to yoga and pilates but I don’t like going in the evening because I like being home for dinner, and I can’t leave to work out during the day when the boys are with me. Ideally I will workout in the morning before everyone wakes up but I need Archer to get a bit more consistent with his sleep schedule before that will happen.

I am still about ten pounds heavier and probably need to go buy some new shorts for summer. Postpartum hair loss has not hit me yet and I’m hoping to god it doesn’t. I didn’t really experience it with Theo and my hair is honestly thin enough as it is haha I don’t need to lose anymore.

Other than that there’s not much else to say. At three months postpartum other than a little bit of extra weight on me I am feeling pretty much like my normal old self.
