20 Weeks Pregnant with Baby Number 3

January 28, 2021
20 weeks pregnant

Due date: Still June 5th

Boy or Girl: We still don’t know. We did have our anatomy scan last week as they like to do it when you’re twenty weeks pregnant and something about seeing the baby’s gorgeous little face made me slightly more inclined to think girl. Theo is also still so convinced we’re having a girl that I think he is starting to sway me haha.

Symptoms: I’m finally to the point where I can say I’m feeling pretty good the majority of the time. I had some pretty bad headaches from weeks 15 to 19. They weren’t as bad as what I had during my first two pregnancies, but it was still rough. I also consistently felt nauseous for a few hours every other day until probably week 19.

I still experience cramping more days than not, but my midwife has continued to assure me that it is a normal thing and nothing to be concerned about.

Also, boobs. Leaking has started right around week 18. I’ve actually experienced this with all three pregnancies and I remember being so surprised during my first pregnancy, so just letting you all know that if you’re experiencing this, it’s totally normal.

Baby movements: I started feeling little flutters at 15 weeks, and around 18 weeks I felt at least a little bit of movement every single night. Now at 20 weeks I can feel movement on the outside which is fun, but Jordan hasn’t had a chance to feel yet.

Weight gain: Up 10 pounds so far. It’s less than I had gained at this point with my first two, but I also weighed more going in to this pregnancy.

Commonly asked questions

Has your belly popped yet? Yes! I feel like I finally popped around week 17 and started actually looking pregnant, instead of just bloated. This is exactly when I felt like I popped with my pregnancy with Archer as well.

Food cravings/aversions: I’m still in the phase where either nothing sounds remotely good or I want something very specific desperately. Chicken is still usually a no go, but I have been craving red meat. I love cereal and have eaten a bowl most days for a few weeks now. Also, give me all the fruit.

Stretch marks: I’ve gotten a lot of questions about stretch marks so I wrote a blog post with some info that you can read here. I got some on my boobs my very first pregnancy but nothing else since, so we will see how the rest of this pregnancy goes. I drink so much water to stay hydrated, eat a pretty nutritious diet with a lot of healthy fats, and I also consistently use a combo or almond oil, vitamin e oil, and argan oil.

Baby names: We have none. We’re not even close to agreeing on a name so this baby might end up being born nameless just like Archer was. No girl names and definitely no boy names. I’m hoping something will just magically come to us. I think I came up with Archer’s name when I was twenty weeks pregnant, but it took the entire pregnancy to get Jordan on board.

Epidural? Nope. We are having the baby at a free standing birth center which means an epidural is not an option. I did the same with my first two so I’m confident in my choice.

How has working out been going? Goodish. I’d like to consistently workout 3-5 times a week and it’s been more like 2-3. I’ve been using Obe Fitness online which I really love. They have a whole library full of prenatal classes starting at only 10 minutes long. I’ve been trying to make sure I am focusing on pelvic floor exercises and also lots of yoga to help my hips loosen up and keep my pelvic floor strong for labor. Other than that I will just pick and choose some other classes to do that week and then I usually walk a few miles a few times a week.

Names you won’t be using? I feel like I can’t answer this right now because what if some crazy twist of fate happens and I change my mind.

Things I’ve bought for the baby: a sleeper. Just one. We don’t need much with this being our third and not even knowing the gender, but at some point I will sit down and go through what we have and figure out what we do need.
