34 Weeks Pregnant Update

December 17, 2018

Countdown: less than six weeks left most likely!  Theo was two weeks early so I’m assuming this little babe will be early too, although I could be wrong.

Weight Gain: 33 pounds.  At this point with Theo I had gained about 40 pounds, and I had a lot of swelling.  I still don’t have any swelling this time thankfully, other than two different occasions that my feet got swollen at night after really busy days.

Sleep: Still waking up early. I’m also having trouble falling asleep at night so I’ve been going to bed pretty late.  Still waking up 9000 times a night to pee.

Mood:  Good.  Happy.  Excited.  It helps that the holidays are here because it’s a great way to keep busy.  There’s so many fun activities to take Theo to and he’s been loving it.  Two of my friends just had babies in the past few weeks so I’m feeling all of the baby envy and can’t wait to hold my little boy.

Symptoms: I had some reflux week 32 in the evenings which was the worst, fortunately it seems to have stopped. My back has been really sore lately though.   I think it’s just due to being near the end of pregnancy and having so much extra weight right on my core, and I’m sure picking Theo up doesn’t help.  Along with week 34 came the exhaustion too.  It almost feels like I’m back in the first trimester again, today I felt like I was going to fall asleep at the breakfast table.  I’m also feeling some pressure in my pelvis.  I don’t know if maybe the baby has dropped a bit or if he’s just growing and putting extra pressure in the area, but it feels weird. I have been having some shortness of breath in the past week. I think this is mainly due to the fact that there is a foot shoving into my ribs all the time. I find myself trying to stretch out and move around as if that will elongate my abdomen and make more room.

Feelings about birth/preparation:  I’m excited.  Not really anxious, just mostly excited.  I feel really good about it and trust that my body knows exactly what it needs to do to bring this little boy into the world.  I’m still crossing my fingers that it’s a quicker birth than Theo’s was but at the end of the day I did it once, so I can do it again.

I’ve been doing hypnobirthing to help get my mind relaxed.  I’ve also been doing a lot more yoga and stretching lately.  My midwife was talking to me about how the baby’s position in your uterus can affect the ease of the labor and delivery, so I want to try and make sure he’s in an optimal position and that my hips and pelvis are aligned/limber.  I’m going to start getting weekly chiropractic adjustments as well beginning this week.

Baby boy:  Still no name, although I think we might be getting close.  He’s still crazy active and is constantly having a dance party in there.   Theo was so chill in utero and now he’s such an active, wild child, so I’m interested to see what this baby will be like since he is so wild in utero!
