Theo’s 16 Month Update

March 1, 2018

Time never flies faster than it does when you are a parent.  The fact that I have a 16 month old is just mind-blowing!  Where did my tiny little baby go?  It feels like just yesterday he was sleeping in my arms and learning to roll over.  Now I have a rowdy rambunctious hilarious little boy who is full of energy and definitely keeps me on my toes.  Here’s a little update on Theo.

Weight:

Somewhere between 20 and 21 pounds.  Not exactly sure, but he’s definitely a tiny little guy still.

Fun things:

Climbing on everything and he thinks he’s so funny for doing it. He climbs up onto our bed and then throws himself into the pillows giggling, and it’s the sweetest sound.

He likes to help with everything.  If there is a spill that needs to be cleaned up, he wants to use the rag to clean it up.  He loves vacuuming and sweeping the floors which is great since he’s the one making all of the mess.  He helps me move the laundry from the washing machine to the dryer (one sock at a time).  Everything takes so much longer when he is helping me but I love how much enjoyment he gets out of it, so unless we’re in a rush I always let him help.

Theo was the ring bearer in our friend’s wedding at the beginning of February.  He did such a good job running down the aisle, it was really cute to watch!  After the ceremony he spent a good two hours on the dance floor getting his groove on. He really loves to dance and did not want to stop.  It was a lot of fun, I’m thinking about renting him out for wedding entertainment.

Words:

He’s really starting to repeat everything so we have to start watching what we say around him (Jordan and I both need to be better about this).  Some of his most recent words are water, beer, avocado, hot and hockey.  He says hot when he sees me drinking coffee and he will try and blow on my mug, which is really cute.  We just got him a slide and every time he goes down it he says “wee”.

Sleep:

Right now he’s trying to figure out if he wants one nap or two.  He usually wakes up around 7 or 7:30, and by 10 he’s losing steam. If we’re home he naps from 10:30-12ish.  His second nap should be around 3 but lately he’s been fighting it and either skips it or doesn’t take it until closer to 4.  But if I try and push back the morning nap so that he just has one nap he will only sleep for 1.5 hours, and that’s not enough time.  I plan on just going off of his cues, and I’m sure he will drop to one nap soon.

Teeth:

13 currently.  He’s got all of his molars and one of his canines has popped through.  He’s always been a really easy teether.  He never eats quite as well and wants to sleep with us when he’s teething, but other than that he never really seems whiney or anything.

Favorites:

If you follow me on Instagram you know that Theo is still very much obsessed with music. He’s constantly listening to music and dancing.  His new thing is to grab his drum set and set up the stool just right.  Then he sits down and jams out for a few minutes before he puts the drums away again for a few hours.  He does this probably 5 times a day.

He still loves to golf and swings his clubs every day in the backyard.

We’ve been going to the park a lot lately and he’s obsessed with playing in the sand.  I hate being dirty so I cringe every time and it takes all of my willpower to not step in and stop him.  He will sit in the sand and grab handfuls and just pour it on his head, on his shoulders, on his pants.  Sand pretty much ends up everywhere but he loves it.  He also loves going down the slide.

We probably read a good thirty books a day.  He will bring one over and sit in my lap while I read it, then gets up and goes to grab another.  He does this over and over again until finally I have to find another distraction because I’m over the books haha.  His personality is so much like Jordan but he definitely gets his love of books from me,

Mattie, our bull terrier, is Theo’s absolute favorite.  He loves going on walks with him.  He will walk over to his stroller and point at it and say “that”.  That’s my sign to get Mattie’s leash and collar on and take them around the neighborhood.  He loves anything involving his dog.  In the middle of playing with his toys he will just get up and go wrap his arms around Mattie for a hug.  It’s such a sweet relationship.

That’s all for now, follow along on Instagram if you want to see more of T.
