Back to School Lunchbox Necessities

August 5, 2019

The school year is coming up quickly, and has even started for some. I thought I’d do a little roundup of my favorite lunchboxes and accessories for littles. You can never go wrong with making things a little bit fun, so I’ve included some of my go-to’s to make lunch a bit more interesting. All take little to no effort but are sure to put a smile on your kids face.

Lunchboxes

The Bentgo Lunchboxis the first lunchbox I bought for Theo and I love it. It doesn’t leak, has multiple compartments to keep different food components separate, and comes in a lot of fun colors. They also have great customer service and if it breaks as long as you have proof of purchase the company will send you a replacement for either free or at a discounted rate, depending on how long you’ve had it for.

I love our OmieBox because it feels really sturdy, which is exactly what I need for my rambunctious toddler. It comes with a removable divider in case you want more or less compartments, an insulated bowl to keep foods cool or warm, and it doesn’t leak.

This LunchBots box is another one of my favorite. The neutral design makes it usable for both kids and adults. The fact that it only has three compartments is nice because sometimes with a lot of compartments I feel pressure to fill them all with interesting things (anyone else??). What’s nice is if you want extra compartments you can use the silicone liners that I mention below.

Fun Accessories

These LunchPunch dinosaur sandwich cuttersare perfect for when I want to take a basic sandwich up a notch.

These veggie shape cuttersmake it easy to make fun shapes out of veggies. My toddler truly is SO much more likely to eat veggies if they are in a fun shape.

These silicone baking linersare the best for breaking up items in a lunchbox. I like to use these for all sorts of things like to keep dips separate from other parts of the lunch, as a bowl for things like yogurt, and even to hold berries in one place so that they don’t get smooshed by other foods.

These edible flowers are such a cute addition to a lunchbox. They take a meal from average to exciting with virtually no effort.

How cool are these PackIt freezable lunch bags? Put them in the freezer the night before and then add your lunchbox the next day and it will act as a cooler. This bag fits the Bentgo and Lunchbots lunch boxes that I linked above.

These reusable silicone snack bags are perfect for packing little afternoon snacks without wasting a ziplock. Just be sure your kid knows not to throw it away!

I love this kids hydro flask water bottle because it’s really durable and can withstand getting dropped on the daily (anyone else kid continuously drop their water bottle or is it just mine?).  It comes in five fun colors and is stainless steel and BPA free.

I always pack Theo these stainless steel utensilsbecause they are easy for him to use and I like that they are reusable as opposed to a disposable set every day.
