Archer’s Four Month Update

June 11, 2019

We’re four months in and Archer is getting so fun!

What’s New

Archer’s personality is just showing more and more every single day. I know I keep saying this but he really is such a happy baby. He is happy to let anyone hold him and as long as he is getting attention he doesn’t fuss. This month he has pretty much had a smile permanently on his face. He is also starting to giggle a bit more. He really makes us work for the laughs though.

Archer’s really discovered his tongue this month and always has it out. It’s the longest baby tongue I’ve ever seen though haha it sticks out so far. He has been exceptionally drooly and is constantly chewing on his hands. I’m wondering if he will be getting a tooth soon because I don’t remember Theo being this drooly quite this early. He has also discovered that he can blow raspberries, so that’s a current favorite of his.

The hands have also been discovered this month. This stage always cracks me up because the amount of fascination a baby can get just from his hands is so funny to me. Archer will spend a good ten minutes just staring at them and moving them around. Now that he is really aware of his hands he has been a lot more interested in toys. The toys he has been loving the most lately have been crinkle books, this wooden rattle, and his Sophie teether.

I haven’t weighed him since last month but I’m sure he’s around 16 pounds, no guesses as to how long he is. We’ve moved him into 6-9 month clothing now so he’s a pretty big boy. My back always hurts from holding him and carrying him because he’s such a heavy boy!

He got his first hair cut this month. He had so much thick dark hair when he was born and within the first two weeks of May it was almost all gone. It just fell out out of nowhere an he was left with hair around the bottom of his head and a little cul de sac. He looked like such a goof so Jord just finally buzzed it one night. He looks adorable with his fuzzy little head.

Look at that bald head! So different from his hair in the last update.

Likes/Dislikes

Archer still doesn’t love the car seat which is pretty annoying. He does still love to be worn in a carrier though and will happily sleep when we are out if I wear him. Check out this post to see my favorite carriers. He is also starting to enjoy being in the stroller more. I think once he can really sit up on his own he will like it a lot.

Thank god for babywearing

Tummy time is still a hit over here and he’s starting to reach for toys and play with them. He loves music just like Theo and will get a huge smile when music is playing. Theo has been singing to Archer lately which is just the cutest thing ever because Archer loves it. If he’s being fussy and I’m busy doing something I’ll tell Theo to go sing him a song and it usually works to make him happy again.

Sleep

Archer is still a really good napper. We still do three to four naps a day and they range anywhere from 1-2 hours. I try and make sure that him and Theo nap at the same time in the afternoon but it hasn’t been working out as well this past month.

His new thing is to wake up at 5:30 or 6:00 now. He will want to play and then by 7 he’s ready for his first nap. I definitely wish he would just stay asleep until 7, but it is what it is.

Eating

Nursing is still going well, clearly, by the amount of weight that he’s gained. We won’t start solids until around 6 months or whenever he can sit up on his own, but I’m getting excited! He takes a bottle really well a few times a week, we use theComotomo bottlesand haven’t had any problems. I like how soft they are for him to hold on to (Jordan has him holding his own bottle already).

That’s pretty much it for this month. Nothing much has changed with me so I didn’t see a point in writing a postpartum update. If you want to check out his past updates you can find them here: three month update, two month update, one month update.
