Friday Things

February 9, 2018

I can’t believe it’s already Friday, it feels like this week has absolutely flown by.  Maybe it’s because I’ve had something exciting to look forward to all week.  Two of my best friends are getting married tomorrow!  Jordan and I are both a part of the wedding party and Theo is going to be the ring bearer.  I can’t wait to share pictures of him in his little suit, he’s going to look so damn cute!

The weather has been amazing here in Phoenix, so we’ve been spending a lot of time outside.  Theo loves playing in the yard and it’s been in the 80’s so I figured I might as well take advantage of this weather.  Before we know it it’s going to be in the 100’s here, which sounds terrible.  We’ve also been going on lots of walks lately.  Theo will walk over to his stroller and point to it to let me know that he wants to go for a walk.  I think it’s so sweet, so I will get Matix ready and the three of us will have an afternoon stroll.  We are still pretty new to the neighborhood so it’s nice to go and explore.

I wanted to take a minute and share a few things I’ve been loving lately.

We got Theo these Contigo kids water bottles from Amazon and I’m obsessed with them.  He’s had a few different straw cups but recently has decided to go WWE on them and start throwing them.  All in the span of a week they all broke so we needed to get him some new ones.  These Contigo ones are easy to clean and are really durable, they also come in a three pack which I like.  They are also available at Costco if you have a membership.

We’ve been renting for a few years now and so we’ve never bought a whole lot of accessory furniture pieces.  It just seems like a waste when we are going to eventually buy a house and there’s no guarantee how the furniture will fit into whatever home we buy.  We did decide it was time to buy a nice bookshelf for the living room though.  We keep a lot of Theo’s books in the living room so that he can have easy access to them, and I wanted something nice to put them on.  We got a bookshelf from Joss and Main and I love it.  We will have to anchor it to the wall so Theo can’t pull it over.  But I figure we can put his books on the bottom shelf and then put some picture frames and cute decor on the upper shelves.  I’m excited to get it all put together and will share it on my instagram when it’s up.

I love reading and science fiction and mysteries are my two favorite genres.  I just finished reading the book The Woman in the Window by A. J. Finn and it was so good.  It’s about a woman with agoraphobia who spends her days watching her neighbors in the New York suburb she lives in.  The book is focused around the crime that she believes she witnessed between the new neighbors across the street.  If you were a fan of the book Gone Girl, you will love this one too!

Do you guys watch the Olympics?  I love watching them, and there are some amazing women this year competing!  Check out this piece on Mind, Body, Green about a few of the up and coming female olympians this year.

Cup of Jo had a great blog posted the other day titled 12 Great Reader Comments on Parenting.  Some were touching, some were sweet, and some were down right hilarious.  I love reading other people’s parenting anecdotes so I wanted to share with you.

Alright, that’s it for the day.  Have a good weekend and I’ll be back on Monday with a yummy Valentine’s Day treat!
