Five Christmas Morning Recipes

December 22, 2017

I love waking up on Christmas morning and sitting around the Christmas tree with my family drinking coffee.  This year Theo will hopefully be old enough to at least somewhat enjoy opening his presents, and I can’t wait to see his face when he sees them under the tree.  As much as I love to cook, I don’t want to have to worry about cooking Christmas morning.  I want to relax and spend time with my family and play with Theo’s toys with him.  That’s why I’ve made this list of five christmas morning recipes that can either be made ahead of time or are very simple to whip up.  What does your family eat on Christmas morning?

Vegan cinnamon rolls

This recipe from Oh She Glows is one of my favorites!  Because it is vegan, these cinnamon rolls are egg and dairy free.  They are so delicious and I love that there is a “make ahead” option at the bottom of the recipe.  You can make the majority of the recipe on Christmas Eve and then when you wake up Christmas morning all you need to do is pop your dish in the oven while you enjoy time with your family.

Paleo Twice Baked Breakfast Sweet Potatoes

For all of my paleo friends out there, this breakfast dish looks divine!  What a fun way to switch up your typical breakfast of bacon, eggs, and potatoes.  I love sweet potatoes and I feel like so often people forget about them when it comes to breakfast potatoes.  This recipe is dairy free and is also compliant with Whole30.  Make the bacon the day before to shave off some work on Christmas morning.

Carrot Cake Oatmeal

Oatmeal is one of my favorite breakfast foods.  It’s nice and hearty and will give you energy without making you feel overly full.  I like this recipe because it’s pretty simple to throw together and is not labor-intensive.  It’s packed with nutritious ingredients but it has such a delicious dessert-like taste, perfect for Christmas morning. Set aside twenty minutes in the morning and whip up this tasty dish for your family.

Cranberry Vanilla Chia Pudding

Chia pudding is such a great breakfast for days when you know you are going to have a heavy meal later. It’s so light and refreshing but the chia seeds will help keep you full longer.  You can make it the day before so all you have to do on Christmas morning is put it in a bowl and enjoy!

Egg-Free Breakfast Quiche

These mini breakfast quiches are made with chickpea flour, making them both egg-free and gluten-free.  I love how these taste, and the recipe is so simple.  Make these for your friends and family that can’t have eggs and they’ll love you forever!
